St. John’s Leadership Academy extends the school's commitment toward excellence by offering programs that focus on mental health, accountability, responsibility, team building and other leadership qualities needed throughout our students’ educational career and beyond. Over the course of each six week program, the SJE Leadership Academy creates an environment that embraces risk taking and growth where participating students will discuss their journeys as leaders, whether as athlete, artist, engineer or innovator.
The research based leadership curriculum we utilize was created by MindsetMatters and is guided by the following core principles:
-
Everyone is a leader, regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity.
-
Leaders are developed through education and experience.
-
Building character is a personal choice.
-
Leaders use a common and shared language.
-
Leadership takes practice.
-
Leaders learn and grow through failure.
-
Feeling safe isn’t enough. Being safe takes practice, preparation, and observation skills.

Why Learning to Code is Important
Learning to code as a kid is more important than ever before. With the growing prevalence of technology in our lives, coding literacy is becoming increasingly necessary. It can help them develop essential skills like problem solving, creativity and critical thinking. Moreover, coding can open up a world of possibilities for young minds, allowing them to explore different career paths and have a better understanding of how technology works.
Coding for children can also be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. By teaching them the basics of programming languages, they will learn how to create something from scratch and bring their ideas to life. This will not only give them a sense of accomplishment but also provide them with the confidence to tackle more complex tasks in the future.
Benefits of Early Coding Education
Coding can help students develop a range of skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and communication. It also encourages collaboration with others and helps them become better organized. Early coding education can open up new career opportunities that would otherwise not be available to them.
Learning to code is not only beneficial for kids but also for adults who want to stay ahead in the ever-evolving technological landscape. By teaching coding at a young age, we can give our children the skills they need to succeed in their future endeavors. Invest in your children's future by giving them the necessary skills to launch a great career.
