Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

Why does St. John’s ask for contributions instead of increasing tuition?

A.

Augmenting tuition through charitable gifts helps keep tuition affordable for every qualified student wishing to attend St. John's. It also provides an opportunity for donors to receive an income tax deduction on their gift to the extent allowed by law.

Q.

How much should I give?

A.

We encourage our St. John's community to make the School its highest philanthropic priority, with Annual Fund as our main fundraiser. But participation is our foremost goal, so any amount is appreciated.

Q.

Does my gift really make a difference?

A.

Each gift makes a difference for our students - the only gift too small is the one not made at all.

Q.

Do I need to send my money in right now?

A.

No, you can pledge your gift now and indicate a payment schedule that is most convenient for you. Our fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.

Q.

How can I increase the impact of my support through a matching gift?

A.

Many companies and foundations will double or even triple the value of charitable gifts made by employees and their spouses, board members, and retirees. Be sure to check with your Human Resources Department to see if your company has a matching gift program.

Q.

Should I give to Annual Fund or to Celebratio?

A.

We encourage you to participate in all St. John's fundraisers in whatever way you are able, but Annual Fund should be your first priority. Gifts given to both Annual Fund and Celebratio help maintain St. John's margin of excellence.
