Admissions Overview

The goals of the St. John’s Episcopal Parish Day School Admissions Office are to attract, admit, and retain students whose academic potential can best be served by our challenging academic offering.

It is the policy of the School to operate with vacancies rather than to accept students whose assessment and scores show they are unlikely to succeed at St. John's. All students admitted to St. John’s School are held to the same standards of achievement, and they must be self-supporting in all aspects of the curriculum and classroom activities.

There are three priority wait list categories: children of fully-active parishioners of St. John’s Church, siblings of current students in good standing, and alumni legacies.

  • Parish affiliation: A minimum of six months’ active church membership, with regular attendance and meaningful participation in Annual Stewardship, prior to the request for a wait-list inquiry card. Criteria will be verified with the parish offices. Click here to go to the St. John's Church website.
  • Sibling affiliation: Siblings of currently enrolled students who are in good academic, citizenship, and financial standing with the School.
  • Legacy applicants: Children or grandchildren of a St. John’s graduate.

The regular list includes all other applicants. Since these lists are often extensive, early application is encouraged.

St. John's Episcopal Parish Day School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the School. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, or athletic and other school-administered programs.

As they graduated from high school this summer and headed to some of the most exclusive colleges in the nation, we asked our 2012 alumni to tell us how St. John's impacted their success:

“St. John's provided a wonderful learning environment with caring and intelligent teachers who really helped me master early academic knowledge that has carried me and will continue to carry me towards success.”

“I absolutely loved my time at SJE, especially in middle school. It was an extremely important time in my education and provided a strong foundation for my life.”

“Loved my time at SJE and some of my best memories come from there. The trips to DC and the Keys are what I believe brought us closer as a grade and are very important in keeping the grade close together.”
