MISSION

St. John's Episcopal Parish Day School's mission is to provide students in grades K(4) - 8 with a superior educational experience that prepares students in a nurturing Christian environment for lifelong intellectual and spiritual growth.

PHILOSOPHY

The School's objective is for its graduates to have a guiding spiritual and ethical commitment throughout their lives, success in their further formal education, and the attitudes and skills which will make them highly effective and caring adults. Their experiences at St. John's should lay strong foundations for this objective.

Spiritual and Moral Formation:
St. John's administrators, faculty and staff are committed to Christian values. Daily Episcopal worship - including all students of other denominations and faiths - and sound Christian religious instruction foster thorough attention to the spiritual and moral aspects of daily life. The School cultivates the personal growth and integrity of each individual student, welcomes diversity, requires everyone's respect for the needs and rights of others, and builds responsive awareness to humanitarian needs.
Academic Preparation:
The School's commitment to superior college preparatory education centers on a rigorous core curriculum, which includes English language and literature, history and social studies, mathematics, physical and life sciences, and foreign language - both classical and modern. Also important for our students are competence in computer technology, creativity in performing and studio arts, physical fitness and life skills, and interscholastic athletics.
Life Competencies:
To prepare students for lifelong personal effectiveness, St. John's maintains high goals and standards for their academic and behavioral performance. The School aims to instill the lasting habit of learning and intellectual growth, through development of strong self discipline and a conscientious work ethic - both at school and at home - and through inculcation of effective organizational and study skills. The School actively fosters development of strong character, self respect, and confidence, alongside students' sense of responsibility for their own actions. Pervasive support for their healthy social and emotional development brings forth growth in their leadership skills and ability to demonstrate appreciation for other people's achievements.
