ATTRIBUTES & ACCOMPLISHMENTS
PRIMARY DIVISION (103 students):
- Newly renovated playground with artificial turf surface.
- Parents invited to join their children at chapel every Friday.
- Laptop lab for computer instruction.
- Every student receives instruction in art, music, divinity, science, computers, library instruction, and physical education.
- Picture of every student on the primary campus lines the hallways.
- Students are Bucket Fillers…of kindness, love, good deeds.
- Parents invited into classrooms to read to the students.
LOWER DIVISION (220 students):
- New laptop lab for computer instruction.
- Form V (3rd grade) tied for 1st in the nation (out of 593 school teams) in a Word Master’s Challenge competition in 2009 – 2010.
- Form VI (4th grade) placed 2nd in the nation in a WordMaster’s Challenge competition in 2008 – 2009.
- Every student receives instruction in art, music, divinity, computers, library instruction, and physical education.
- Form VI and III form reading partners and read together every Friday for 40 minutes.
- 2008 – 2009 Form VI (grade 4) ERB Achievement Test Results:
a. Verbal Reasoning - 87%ile
b. Writing Concepts & Skills - 91%ile
c. Quantitative Reasoning - 85%ile
MIDDLE DIVISION (219 students):
- 2008 – 2009 Form X (grade 8) ERB Achievement Test Results:
- Verbal Reasoning - 96%ile
- Writing Concepts & Skills - 96%ile
- Quantitative Reasoning - 96%ile
- 78% of the 2008 – 2009 Form IX (7th grade) qualified to take the SAT for the Duke TIP Program.
- Six students received state recognition for SAT scores.
- One student received national recognition for SAT scores.
- SJE student placed 7th in the state in the Geography Bee.
- 2008 – 2009 Latin team took 1st in the Regional Latin Forum for the 5th year in a row.
- 2008 – 2009 Latin team took 2nd in the Sate Latin Forum.
- Form VII (5th grade) placed 6th in the nation in a WordMaster’s Challenge competition in 2008 – 2009.
- Form IX (7th grade) placed 2nd in the nation in a WordMaster’s Challenge competition in 2008 – 2009.
- A spring musical is professionally produced every spring by the middle division students.
- The middle division has a "Green Team” which not only recycles on their campus, but also participates yearly in the Mayor’s River Clean-up program.
- Due to the "no cut” philosophy in athletics, 93% of all middle school students participate on one or more sports’ team each year.
- St. John’s athletic teams have won 21 league championships in the last seven years.
- With fair play and team work, the athletic teams win many league and tournament championships; five last year alone.
ALL SCHOOL (542 students):
- Active Parents’ Club – raises over $200,000 for the School each year, has 60 committees to run events throughout the year such as:
- Homeroom parents
- Primary and lower division greeters
- Field Day
- Fundraisers
- Newly Formed Dads’ Club.
- All school "Service Day” sponsored by the Dads’ Club on March 12, 2010
- All students, on all three campuses, attend chapel every day.
- Students participate with the Church youth in the fund raising program "Mission Possible” to support various mission trips and our sister school in Uganda, Kamaiba Primary School.
- Enrollment for 2009 – 2010 school year has grown by 28 students over last year’s enrollment.
- 94% of all students at SJE in 2008 – 2009 re-enrolled for 2009 – 2010.
- FCIS re-enrollment average was 80%
- 2008 – 2009 school-wide (307 students in grades 3 through 8) ERB Achievement Test Results:
- Verbal Reasoning - 91%ile
- Writing Concepts & Skills - 90%ile
- Quantitative Reasoning - 88%ile
- SMARTBoards and/or Elmos in every classroom school-wide.
- 100% of our graduates have been accepted in the local high school of their first choice for the last five years.
- Most of the high school juniors in the country take the PSAT in October of every year as part of the National Merit Scholarship Qualification Test Program (NMSQT).
- Approximately 16,000 of these students are named National Merit Semi-Finalists.
- This year, 53 semi-finalists are from Hillsborough County, the most from any county in the state of Florida.
- Seven (7) of those 53 in Hillsborough County of the 16,000 in the country are from St. John’s.
