About St. John's
Welcome to St. John's School.  By helping our students build strong academic and personal foundations, we prepare them for success in Tampa's finest private and public high school programs on their way to superior colleges and universities.  Educational experts will tell you that the lower and middle school years have a more important, formative, and enduring impact on students than all the rest of their formal education.

In addition to our classrooms and common spaces, St. John's School has special facilities which benefit our students greatly. Most important are the school's libraries and computer laboratories, alongside a beautiful, historic church adjacent to the Lower School, and a consecrated Middle School Chapel.

Chapel

St. John's is an outreach of the church and, as such, students attend chapel daily. Lower School students attend in St. John's Church and Middle School students in Price Memorial Chapel. Episcopal worship holds the central place in the School's life and sense of community. This daily experience provides a calming and spiritual focus for students and teachers alike, emphasizing the common values of our school. The objective is for its graduates to have a guiding spiritual and ethical commitment throughout their lives.

Libraries

The Lower and Middle School libraries are used daily as core teaching resources. Enrollment at St. John's is approximately 510 students, and the libraries contain over 12,000 volumes; they are kept current by the annual removal of outdated books and the addition of new books through purchases and gifts.
The computerized cataloguing and retrieval systems maintain an encyclopedic subject index. Students use this system to find material they need. Beginning in Form V, students are trained by the librarian to use the system independently.

Computer Laboratories
Our Lower and Middle School computer laboratories allow students to learn how to utilize computers through software applications designed ultimately to tie into their daily studies. Students in Form VI - X learn to use the computer as a research and presentation tool. Computer-produced writing assignments are increasingly expected from students beginning with Form VII.
